About the Job

Our client are a dynamic and progressive company that specialises in providing Physiotherapy and associated services throughout the UK. This independent organisation are currently seeking an Advanced Service Lead Physiotherapist that will be responsible and accountable for the design and implementation of the Advanced Physiotherapy component of the Community Integrated MSK service. This role is predominantly clinical, and will entail leadership of a newly commissioned service involving the initial clinical pathways design, in collaboration with a highly specialised multidisciplinary team.

Role Responsibilities

  • Abide by HCPC and CSP Codes of Professional Conduct, and work in line with all areas of CSP Core Standards of Practice, as well as The Integrated Care Clinics policies and procedural framework.
  • Work as an autonomous Practitioner in providing and delivering exceptional Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy assessments and treatment plans to your own designated clinical caseload of patients presenting with various complex conditions, and having the flexibility to travel to any site within the CCG boundaries to assess / treat ad-hoc challenging patients.
  • Work with senior clinical and operational management to design clinical pathways to ensure the patient journey as smooth and effective as possible. This is to include implementing key features such as Single Point of Access clinical pathways, MCATs clinical design, shared decision making, injection therapy and medicines management. You will have overall responsibility for referrals into and out of the Single Point of Access and MCATs clinics.
  • Act and clinically train others (where needed) to independently assess, analyse and provide a clinical diagnosis for individual patients to determine their need for intervention, and act independently to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress patient care to maximise rehabilitation potential.
  • Maintain your clinical practice to ensure you work clinically on a regular basis to maintain your professional registration.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate excellence in meeting the highest standard of treatment and care including: Understanding each patient’s needs and expectations from physiotherapy, and creating a culture where treatment is the same irrespective of their backgrounds and/or beliefs.
  • Make up to date records, abiding by professional and internal standards and procedures.
  • Continually evaluating the effectiveness of interventions in meeting agreed goals.
  • Lead the clinical team within the Single Point of Access and MCATs services, to act as a clinical expert and as a point of contact, to provide clinical expertise and advice to all clinical employees working under your lead.
  • Identify, manage and raise immediately any risks to quality, such as workload, communication, and team working, or any issues regarding service delivery.
  • Fully understand the wider Integrated MSK service and local MSK pathways: across Primary Care, Secondary Care and the voluntary sector, including in depth knowledge of referral criteria and scope of services. This will include close working relationships with the Clinical Director and senior Clinicians throughout the service.
  • Upskill GP’s/referrers to maximise appropriateness of referrals.
  • Attend regular meetings with external stakeholders, such as the NHS Trust, CCG and wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, (including patients, clinical colleagues, administrative colleagues, receptionists, and external healthcare professionals) in line with the company.
  • procedures to ensure effective patient management. This will involve working in collaboration with and/or referring on to colleagues within the Integrated MSK Service.
  • Be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through a variety of CPD activities, and maintain a portfolio that reflects personal development.
  • Be aware of all contractual Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators, and ensure that the Single Point of Access and MCATs clinicians perform consistently against these.
  • Provide a healthy working environment for all Healthcare Clinicians working within this service, and maintaining an approachable manner for all your team members. Supporting team members with more difficult patients and situations (e.g. verbal or physical aggression).
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of new developments within physiotherapy, and particularly within the area of MSK physiotherapy.
  • Proactively take a lead with any relevant developments and (with approval from senior management) look to incorporate any developments into current practice and that of the team as necessary.
  • Promote equality and diversity in own behaviour and foster non-discriminatory culture. Apply policies and internal processes in a fair and equal way.
  • Work with other team members and Managers to ensure that the service responds to local and national guidance and policies such as National Service Frameworks and NICE guidelines.
  • Evaluate current practices in own work and that of the team, based on research findings, evidence based projects, audits and the use of recognised outcome measures, to ensure that quality standards and effectiveness of patient care are continually monitored and improved.
  • Work with other team members and managers to formulate policies and procedures, and participate in agreed developments and projects related to the physiotherapy service, networking externally to the Company as required.
